LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) – One of the sites being considered by Keeneland for a quarter-horse track in southeastern Kentucky has been pulled by the owner.

The Lexington Herald-Leader (http://bit.ly/16oRMbB) reports Jerry Wayne Garland II told the newspaper and others in an email that he was "withdrawing his bid" to have Keeneland build a track at the 100-acre site just outside Corbin at the intersection of Interstate 75 and U.S. 25E. Garland’s land had become entangled in annexation issues because it is outside the city limits.

At least one other site in the city limits has been under consideration by the Lexington track.

Garland said a shopping center company has expressed interest in his property, which would potentially give Corbin "two first-class developments instead of possibly one."
