LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — A museum is planning a spring opening for a new exhibit showcasing the Kentucky Derby’s star appeal.
The Kentucky Derby Museum in Louisville says the "Stars of the Stands" exhibit will open on April 11.
Museum officials say the two-year exhibit will be broken into different eras to show how fame and celebrity transformed the Derby into an iconic event.
The first season will highlight the celebrities who were involved in horse racing and attended the Derby from its infancy to 1974. The second will feature a more current flavor of Hollywood’s biggest stars visiting Churchill Downs from 1975 to present day.
The museum, located next to Churchill Downs, is celebrating its 30th anniversary this year.
