Crews said the fire started around 8:20 a.m. And they fought it for around three hours. One firefighter was taken to the hospital to be treated for smoke inhalation. A woman who was inside was also treated for breathing in smoke, but she was not taken to the hospital.
Major Lee Hayden said crews will be there all day working. He said once it’s safe for investigators to go inside, they will start looking at how and where the fire started. He said more than 50 firefighters were at the location in the 3300 block of Paris Pike, but they still had plenty of crews working in Lexington.
The building that burned contained a tech shop, chaplain office and an apartment.
