Parks nominated for the award have demonstrated excellence in the areas of innovation, customer service, interpretation and resource management, as well as fiscally responsible operation of the park.

Last year, Johnsonville State Historic Park achieved several accomplishments, including the commemoration of the 150th anniversary of the Battle of Johnsonville.

Located off U.S. Highway 70, the park is named for former President Andrew Johnson. The 600-acre park, on the eastern side of Kentucky Lake, encompasses and overlooks the site of the Battle of Johnsonville.
