LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) — The World’s Championship Horse Show will run one day longer starting with this year’s Kentucky State Fair.
The Kentucky State Fair Board voted Thursday to extend the show by an extra day. The saddlebred show will begin on the first Saturday of the fair rather than the first Sunday. The finals will be held on the last Saturday night as they have been previously.
The fair board said in a news release that ticket sales in recent years to a Saturday evening concert at Freedom Hall have fallen while demand for additional horse show classes has risen.
Fair Board President and CEO Rip Rippetoe said a concentrated marketing effort will be made to attract people to the horse show.
The 2015 horse show will be Aug. 22 to 29.
