STANFORD, Ky. (AP) — When Stanford’s newly elected city council members take office on Jan. 1, one of their first missions will be to appoint a mayor.
Mayor-elect T.J. Hill died a couple of weeks after the Nov. 5 election.
Chris Johnson with the Kentucky League of Cities told The Advocate-Messenger (http://bit.ly/1sjb78X) that it will be up to the council to appoint someone to serve until a special election can be held in November.
Johnson said if the council can’t decide on someone by Jan. 30, it would fall to the governor to make the selection.
Council members have said they intend to begin meeting in early January to make the decision.
