Cold Temperatures and Snowy Roads

Colder temperatures and snowy roads slowed down traffic throughout much of the area Monday morning.

The Scott County Sheriff’s Office said its officers helped around 200 weather related wrecks just during this morning’s commute.
Officers said during rush hour there were accidents all around the county and beyond.
Lexington Police said they had around 20 accidents in the morning.
In Franklin County, the sheriff said there were only a few fender benders.
“People are paying attention, they’re slowing down giving themselves a little more time,” said Sheriff Pat Melton.  “Doing all the things you’re supposed to do when you have inclement weather come in.”
Officers remind everyone to take it slow on the drive home, especially since there is a chance roads could freeze as the temperatures drop.
