LEXINGTON, Ky. (AP) — School administrators are investigating after a 4-year-old girl was left on a bus in Madison County.
District spokeswoman Erin Stewart told the Lexington Herald-Leader (http://bit.ly/1tQZCyW) that the bus driver has been suspended pending the outcome of the investigation.
Stewart says the child was picked up Wednesday morning to attend an afternoon preschool program in Richmond at the district’s education center. The girl apparently fell asleep and didn’t get off the bus when it stopped at the center.
Stewart said drivers are supposed to walk through the bus and check all seats after making a run and parking the vehicle.
It wasn’t clear how long the girl remained on the bus after it left the center.
