Fayette and Pulaski County schools will be among three Kentucky districts to try out a new mental health program.

The state said it would use $8 million in federal grant money to help schools and communities recognize and help young people with mental health problems.

The program will work to give local communities more access to school and community-based mental health services.

It would also help train school employees, first responders and others to recognize potential problems.

The state said Jefferson County schools would also be a part of the pilot program.
