OWENSBORO, Ky. (AP) — Kentucky Wesleyan College has hired someone with deep ties to the Owensboro school to become its new president.
Barton D. Darrell becomes the college’s 34th president. Darrell, whose appointment was announced Thursday, replaces Craig Turner as president.
The 53-year-old Darrell has served as vice president of external services at the college. He was responsible for development, admissions, financial aid and alumni relations during his 11-month stint as vice president.
His ties to the college included service as a trustee, Alumni Association president and adjunct professor of business law.
Darrell is a 1984 graduate of Kentucky Wesleyan. He earned a law degree from the University of Louisville and worked for a Bowling Green law firm.
His father, Bob Darrell, is a professor emeritus of English at Kentucky Wesleyan.
