Car Landed On Top Of Man And Killed Him

A driver in Scott County was killed after the coroner suspected alcohol as a contributing factor in the car crash.

Coroner John Goble said Darly Morales, 18, was killed after the car he was driving landed on top of him around 12:30 a.m. Thursday.

The coroner estimated Morales to be speeding, going more than 80 miles an hour along the Fayette and Scott County line on Lisle Road.

Morales and the 16 year old girl riding with him hit a tree that sent the car 30 feet in the air, according to the coroner.

The coroner said the people inside were thrown from the car that then landed on top of Morales.

Goble said the girl was sent to U.K. Hospital for treatment.  She is expected to be okay.

Pending a toxicology report, the coroner said alcohol is suspected as a contributing factor.  The driver and passenger were not wearing safety belts either.

The coroner also said funeral services will be handled by Blackburn and Ward Funeral Home in Versailles.
