Karl Towns’ Double-Double Lifts UK Basketball to 81-58 Win

NASSAU, Bahamas – Freshman forward Karl-Anthony Towns charted 19 points, 10 rebounds and three assists in just 21 minutes, leading the Kentucky men’s basketball team to an 81-58 win over Champagne Chalons-Reims Basket, on Monday afternoon at Sir Kendal Isaacs Gymnasium.

Kentucky won its second straight game in its six-game Bahamas tour, using the double-double from Towns to highlight the win. On Sunday afternoon, UK opened the tour with a 74-49 win over the Puerto Rico National Team Reserves in Nassau.

The Wildcats also got 16 points and eight rebounds from junior Alex Poythress, who added two steals. Sophomore center Dakari Johnson chipped it 10 points and four rebounds, with freshman guard Devin Booker leading the team with four steals, adding three points. Andrew Harrison tallied a team-best six assists, charting five points and three boards, with Aaron Harrison going for five points and two steals.

Off the bench, Marcus Lee contributed seven points, three rebounds and one assist, with freshman guard Tyler Ulis going for six points, three assists and three rebounds. Dominique Hawkins finished with seven points, with Derek Willis adding three points, five rebounds, two assists and one steal.

Kentucky will play its third game of the Bahamas tour on Tuesday at 1 p.m. ET on ESPNU, facing off with the Puerto Rico National Team Reserves.
