A Casey County Veteran has his share of medals from a Vietnamese Service Medal to a Bronze Star but there’s one honor he earned twice but somehow never received, until now.

United States Army Specialist Earl Wilson was hurt twice fighting in Vietnam.  First a hand grenade exploded and injured him they just 18 days later a landmine exploded.  Both injuries happened January 1971.

Once Wilson healed, he continued to fight and was honorably discharged six months later.

Wilson should have been awarded the Purple Heart but he didn’t get it until 43 years later.

July 2, 2014 he was given two.
