The date on the calendar doesn’t really matter.  In Kentucky…it’s always basketball season.  And here at the end of June, we’ve got a full slate of hardwood news.

It starts with Coach Cal.  He was on the summer SEC teleconference earlier today talking about a variety of topics, including his unusually veteran-laiden team.

A pair of juniors in Willie Cauley-Stein and Alex Poythress will spearhead a group stacked with some talented sophomores and freshmen as well.

The first glimpse of the Cats minus WCS and freshman big man Trey Lyles will be in the Bahamas in August.

A trip Cal plans to get a lot out of and that’s because it’ll be against some stiff competition in various national teams including the Dominican Republic and a solid Puerto Rican reserves squad.

More from Cal in the video.
