Local Heroes Honored at Awards Banquet

Stories of bravery and heroism involving the men and woman who help keep Lexington safe where honored at the annual Lexington Police Awards Banquet.

It wasn’t just police officers who were honored for their heroism but some people from the community too.
Louis Mullins said he was pumping gas when he saw a driver back over another person.
Mullins was given a Citizen Service Medal for helping a police officer lift the car off the pinned woman which saved her life.
“I couldn’t even think things were happening so fast I just had to get her out from under that car.  That’s all I could think about,” said Mullins.
“We couldn’t do our job without the help from citizens and I’m just grateful for her actions,” said Commander Gregg Jones who was given a life saving award for administering CPR to a woman at the scene of a car crash after a citizen notified him about the wreck.

The biggest award of the evening was Police Officer of the Year.
