Special Blood Drive Held In Frankfort

Blood Drive
The Kentucky State University’s Betty White Health Center hosted a blood drive in honor of a 2-year-old girl who was diagnosed with Bilateral Retinoblastoma, cancer of the eye, when she was 3 months old on Tuesday.

Addyson Black is the daughter of Lauren Cleveland and Canada "Alonte" Black of Georgetown.

Throughout her battle with cancer, Addyson has been a recipient of blood transfusions. An aunt who is a KSU graduate contacted the Betty White Health Center and asked if the university would host the drive, said Floarine Wilson, KSU’s director of Health Services.

Wilson said the family wanted to do something special for the girl’s second birthday while giving back to the community.
