Curtis Brewer
A Laurel County man who had reportedly been serving a ten-year sentence for burglary in Louisville is now accused of stealing a semi and then fighting with officers after getting it stuck in a Laurel County ditch.

Deputies said they received a complaint early Tuesday morning that the tractor-trailer was stuck on Chaney Ridge Road.

Officers said they were told by witnesses that the driver appeared to be under the influence and that he was still trying to move the truck.

When deputies arrived, 35-year-old Curtis Brewer ran off, but was quickly caught and arrested after trying to put up a fight, according to a report.

Officials said Brewer later admitted that he had taken a large amount of meth and had stolen the semi from Louisville.

Brewer was charged with operating a motor vehicle under the influence, fleeing or evading police on foot, resisting arrest, menacing, and receiving stolen property worth $10,000 or more in Laurel County.

He was also charged with a bench warrant of arrest for escape in Jefferson County.

Brewer is now lodged in the Laurel County Detention Facility.
