Employee Accused Of Setting Fire In Locked Alzheimer’s Unit Of Nursing Home

A fire at a nursing home in Carlisle wasn’t big.

What was noteworthy was how it started.

The fire chief said a fire started Saturday night in the locked Alzheimer’s unit at Johnson Mathers Health Care.

Fire Chief Jim Biddle said the fire was intentionally set by an employee.

Chief Biddle said that same employee put out the fire, which involved trash bags and paper towels.

Chief Biddle said he thought the employee wanted to look like a hero.

No one was hurt in the fire, which remains under investigation.

Kentucky State Police are involved in the probe.
