A wind chill advisory will be in affect for the area from 4am until 1pm Thursday.
The weather service said a cold front with gusty winds could keep the air feeling like it’s five to 15 below zero.
Lexington city officials have warned that with the overnight cold, black ice and re-freezing could occur on the roadways.
As of mid-afternoon Wednesday, the city’s main roads were in "good" shape, with rural priority roads in "fair to good" condition.
Non-priority and rural roads are currently listed as "poor to fair."
Officials said not all of Lexington’s roads will be treated; it depends on the roads’ priority.
In addition, leaf collection has been cancelled for the rest of the week. It will pick back up on Monday, weather permitting.
