The Virginia-based non-profit organization ‘Gleaning for the World’ dropped off a semi-truckload full of blankets to the warehouse.
The 4,000 blankets were distributed to homeless shelters, The Salvation Army and other non-profit organizations in Lexington.
The Office of Fayette County Sheriff also helped, first helping unload the semi and then going door-to-door in the community delivering blankets and other warm clothing to those in need.
Ginny Ramsay, with the Catholic Action Center, said they recieved a call from ‘Gleaning for the World’ last Saturday asking if Lexington could use an extra 4,000 blankets.
Ramsay said the non-profit even drove the blankets from Lynchburg, Virginia to Lexington, free of charge.
