Richie Farmer Pleads Guilty

Former UK Basketball Player Richie Farmer plead guilty to the misuse of government funds while serving as the state’s agriculture commissioner on Friday.

In a prepared statement to the Federal Court in Frankfort, Farmer admitted to using more than 140-thousand dollars from the the Department of Agriculture for his own personal use.

The former UK shooting guard struck a deal with prosecutors to plead guilty and serve a prison sentence of 21 to 27 months, and pay more than 120-thousand dollars in restitution to the commonwealth.

US District Judge Gregory Van Tatenhove accepted Farmer’s guilty plea, but will review the plea deal before handing down a sentence, which is scheduled for January 14th, 2014.
