Lexingtonians are helping a little boy fight a big genetic disorder.
16-month-old Nicholas Hawes is battling Hurler’s Syndrome, a disease that typically causes severe organ damage.
His community came together in Lexington today to raise money and show support for the Hawes family through a yard sale, lunch, and prize drawings.

Nicholas’ mother, Jennifer, says it was her co-workers planned the fundraiser.
The Hawes family is making trips to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital for weekly enzyme replacements.
They say they hope Nicholas can be put on the list for the next step of treatment; a bone marrow transplant.
