Lexington Man Helps Police Catch Hit-And-Run Driver

A neighbor helped Lexington police track down a hit-and-run driver who took out a fire hydrant early Thursday morning.

Police said the driver struck the hydrant at around 1:30 a.m., then took off.

The hydrant was knocked over, sending water flooding into the street.

Phillip Osbourne, who lives in the house adjacent to the hydrant, saw it happened and followed the driver.

"A neighbor down the street heard it…and actually, as I pulled off after the guy, he gave me directions he went in. So I caught up with him fairly quickly," said Osbourne.

Police said they arrested the driver, Tanner Greene, and charged him with reckless driving, leaving the scene of an accident, drug possession, and other charges.
