It was no different in Kentucky.
Governor Steve Beshear (D) called the events in Boston a "tragedy", and said it will affect the Kentucky Derby.
"The Derby’s such a worldwide and world-renowned event…and, obviously, something like that is always possible at an event like that. And so we’re gonna double down on our efforts to just make sure that everything goes well…and I’m sure it will. I’m confident that we will make the plans necessary for everybody to enjoy the Derby in a safe way," he told ABC-36 Monday.
There’s no word yet on what that could mean for fans at the track.
The Run of the Roses will be held May 4th this year.
It’s the only part of the Triple Crown horse races that’s been run every year since 1875.
