Investigators say a husband and wife from Somerset died in a murder-suicide, just hours before they were supposed to bury their youngest son, who died in a weekend car crash.
The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office said Billy Eugene Baugh, 54, and Shirley Baugh, 53, died Wednesday in their home on Edwards Road. Officials found them two hours before their son’s funeral.
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office said their son, Clarence Baugh died in a weekend car crash.
Family said they think Clarence’s parents were having a hard time coping with their youngest son’s death.
“The last time I talked to Shirley was Sunday morning,” Tasha Rose, a cousin to the family said. “And she started screaming, ‘Oh she lost her baby, she lost her baby. She don’t know how she’s going to live without her baby.’"
The Sheriff’s Office said Billy apparently shot his wife with a handgun before turning the gun on himself.
“There’s nothing you can say that will really make it go away,” Rose said.
Rose arrived at the Baugh’s house today, looking for the oldest brother, Billy, and now the only living member of the immediate Baugh family.
They said they want to help him and the two daughters Clarence left behind cope with such sudden and heavy loss.
Both victims are scheduled for autopsies on Thursday in Frankfort.
