Currently the only Double Crossover Diamond Interchange in the city is at Harrodsburgh Road and New Circle.
The way the award winning intersection is set up, drivers do not turn left across traffic.
The Department of Highways says the interchange reduces accidents, and makes traffic go smoothly. Because of that, the Department is interested in adding more.
"We have extensive date and statistics that show this is a much safer intersection plan, and it does reduce conflict points, and adds to the flow of traffic," said Natasha Lacy, Department of Highways.
Lacy says the Department of Highways wants to consider the following locations for a Double Crossover Diamond Interchange:
1) Tates Creek and New Circle
2) Richmond Road and New Circle
3) Old Frankfort Pike and New Circle
4) Leestown Road and New Circle
Implementing the new intersections will depend on funding.
