A grand jury indicted him Tuesday.
He was formally charged Thursday with 26 counts of theft, totaling $60,000 over 9 years.
It is not related to his role as Coroner.
The charges are connected to his job at the Lake Cumberland Funeral Home.
It’s the job New left in 2011.
New’s Attorney says New’s former employer is making the allegations.
Attorney John Gillum says New will be exonerated.
Gillum also says the charges are curious since New has just opened a competing funeral home.
