"Even though we’ve had storms," C.J. Haunz, Lexington Firefighter says, "This part of the state has received a lot less rainfall than our neighboring counties."
A small deck fire tonight brought out plenty of crews.
"If it would have gotten big enough, it would have gotten into the attic and then it would have had the entire apartment attic on fire," Haunz comments.
Last night, firefighters were called to put out a fire that was started by a cigarette butt being thrown into the mulch.
Crews hope the worst won’t happen on this holiday.
"With this being the 4th of July and the fireworks," Haunz says, "We hate to put a ban on firework use, but because it’s so dry, just the little spark from one of those can have devastating consequences."
