Nashville, TN (Sports Network) - Vanderbilt University has suspended four football players for a violation of team rules, the school announced Friday.

The school's release did not name the players or the reason behind the suspensions, but The Tennessean, citing Metro police, said an investigation by the department's "Sex Crimes Unit" began on Wednesday.

"Because of Vanderbilt's ongoing investigation, the university will offer further comment when appropriate," the school's statement read.
