Raiders trim roster to 53 players

Alameda, CA (Sports Network) - The Oakland Raiders got their roster to the NFL-mandated limit of 53 on Saturday.

The Raiders released defensive end Andre Carter, linebacker Omar Gaither, cornerback Joselio Hanson, tackle Tony Hills and safety Reggie Smith.

Additionally, the team waived defensive lineman Ryan Baker, defensive end David Bass, linebackers Billy Boyko and Chase Thomas, cornerback Chance Casey, guard Jason Foster, tight ends Richard Gordn and Brian Leonhardt, wide receivers Greg Jenkins and Conner Vernon, safety Shelton Johnson, guard Lamar Mady, kicker Justin Medlock, defensive tackle Kurt Taufa'asau and running back Deonte Williams.

Oakland also waived/injured tackle Willie Smith, placed offensive lineman Tony Bergstrom on injured reserve and placed wide receiver Andre Holmes on the reserve/suspended list.

The Raiders have four quarterbacks and two punters on their 53-man roster.
