Kennesaw, GA (SportsNetwork.com) - Start an FCS program and then fill it with players.

Kennesaw State, which will join the Big South Conference as an associate member in football for the team's inaugural season in 2015, began its first scholarship class on national signing day Wednesday with quarterback Chandler Burks from South Palding High in Douglasville, Ga.

Burks faxed his National Letter of Intent to coach Brian Bohannon and the football office at 7:01 a.m. ET.

Soon after, the program kept growing. The Owls received 29 signed letters, including from two of Burks' high school teammates, running back Jae Bowen and offensive lineman Lorenzo Adger.

Kennesaw State will give the Big South seven football-playing members in 2015. The university's other athletic programs will remain in the Atlantic Sun Conference, which doesn't sponsor football.
