Boone, NC (Sports Network) - Appalachian State football players will wear new uniforms during the university's final season in the FCS.

The new uniforms feature five combinations - black jerseys with black pants, white jerseys with white pants, black jerseys with white pants, white jerseys with black pants and an alternate grey jersey with black pants.

The alternate jerseys will be auctioned to fans following the season.

The Mountaineers will wear new black helmets with a matte finish as opposed to the traditional glossy look, and the school's Block "A" logo has a black background to complete the slick new design.

Appalachian State opens its season at Montana on Aug. 31. The perennial Southern Conference power will move up to the FBS next year.
