Washington, D.C. (Sports Network) - D.C. United announced Thursday that the club has signed striker Conor Doyle on a loan deal from English side Derby County for the remainder of the MLS season.

The 21-year-old had been training with the Colorado Rapids in recent weeks but instead was acquired by D.C. United via a lottery held Thursday morning.

"Conor is another quality young talent who has advanced international soccer experience for his age," D.C. United GM Dave Kasper said in a statement. "This loan will allow us to take a close look at him with an eye on the future. We look forward to Conor's arrival in D.C. and to integrating him among our strong core group of up-and-coming players."

Doyle, a former U.S. U-20 player, signed with Derby County after one year at Creighton University. He has made 23 appearances for the English side.
