Rodriguez a playoff winner in Uruguay

Montevideo, Uruguay (Sports Network) - Jose de Jesus Rodriguez birdied the second playoff hole on Sunday to win the Roberto de Vicenzo Invitational Copa NEC.

Rodriguez closed with a 4-under 68 to end at 17-under-par 271. He was joined there by third-round leader Timothy O'Neal (72) and Sebastian Saavedra (69).

The trio returned to the 18th hole at Club de Golf Uruguay for the first extra hole, and they all made par.

At the short par-4 eighth, the second extra hole, Rodriguez drove the green and 2-putted for birdie and the win. The victory was the first for Rodriguez on the PGA Tour Latinoamerica.

Christian Espinoza (68) and Sebastian Vazquez (69) tied for fourth at minus-16, while Liam Logan (70) ended alone in sixth at 15-under 273.
