Augusta, GA (SportsNetwork.com) - Craig and Kevin Stadler had mixed results in their historic showing at the 78th Masters at Augusta National Thursday.

When they both took the course for their opening rounds, the Stadlers became the 12th father-son duo to compete in the Masters, but the first to do so in the same event.

They fared differently as Kevin carded a 2-under 70 to sit inside the top five, while his father, Craig, posted a 10-over 82 and is a shot off the worst score of the day.

Kevin's round started with four straight pars before moving to 1-under with birdies at the fifth and seventh around a bogey at the sixth.

After a bogey at the 11th dropped him back to even par, the first-time participant bounced back with consecutive birdies at the 12th and 13th to reach 2-under. He parred his final five holes to end there.

Craig, meanwhile, found immediate trouble with back-to-back bogeys at two and three. He followed two more bogeys at the fifth and sixth with a double-bogey 6 at the seventh to fall to 6-over at the turn.

He added two more bogeys at 10 and 11 before recording his lone birdie of the day at the 13th. He could not build any momentum from that and continued to drop shots at the 14th, 15th and 17th to fall all the way down to 10-under.
