Ottawa, ON (Sports Network) - The Ottawa Senators and restricted free- agent defenseman Jared Cowen agreed to a four-year contract on Saturday.

Cowen, whose 2012-13 season was cut short due to surgery on a torn labrum in his left hip in mid-November, totaled one goal in seven regular-season contests, then added three assists in 10 postseason appearances.

The 22-year-old native of Saskatoon also added three helpers in three games for Binghamton of the AHL.

Over 90 NHL contests in parts of three years for Ottawa, Cowen has totaled six goals and 18 points.
