Jets, Wheeler strike deal to avoid arbitration

Winnipeg, MB (Sports Network) - The Winnipeg Jets have avoided arbitration with Blake Wheeler, agreeing to terms on a six-year contract worth $33.6 million.

The 26-year-old forward played in all 48 games last season, posting a team- best 19 goals and 22 assists.

Selected fifth overall by the Phoenix Coyotes in the 2004 NHL Draft, Wheeler has totaled 93 goals and 139 assists in 372 career games with Boston and Atlanta/Winnipeg.
