Uniondale, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - The New York Islanders placed defenseman Brian Strait on injured reserve Monday with an upper-body injury.

Strait posted one assist over New York's first nine games but hasn't played since an Oct. 22 loss to Vancouver. The move is retroactive to Oct. 24.

The 25-year-old blueliner has six career points in 40 NHL games over parts of four seasons with Pittsburgh and New York.
