Raleigh, NC (Sports Network) - The Carolina Hurricanes have signed Elias Lindholm to a three-year, entry-level contract.

The Hurricanes selected the Swedish forward fifth overall in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft.

Lindholm played for Brynas IF of the Swedish Elite League last year, scoring 11 goals and 30 points in 48 games. He was a finalist for rookie of the year after leading all junior-aged players in scoring.

The 18-year-old also helped Sweden capture the silver medal in the 2013 IIHF World Junior Championship in January.
