Flyers give Read 4-year extension

Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - The Philadelphia Flyers and forward Matt Read agreed to a four-year, $14.5 million contract extension on Friday.

The extension will start at the beginning of the 2014-15 season and will have an annual cap hit of $3.625 million.

Read, 27, appeared in 42 games last season and posted 11 goals and 13 assists.

Over his two seasons in the NHL, the Ilderton, Ontario native has totaled 35 goals and 36 assists in 121 games with the Flyers.
