Flyers' Read out six weeks with torn rib cage muscles

Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Philadelphia Flyers forward Matt Read will miss six weeks of action with torn rib cage muscles.

General manager Paul Holmgren made the announcement prior to Thursday's game against the Florida Panthers.

Read suffered the injury during the first period of Wednesday's game against the Pittsburgh Penguins.

In 18 games this season, Read had seven goals and six assists.
