Caps sign Chimera to 2-year extension

Arlington, VA (SportsNetwork.com) - The Washington Capitals signed forward Jason Chimera to a two-year, $4 million contract extension on Friday.

The 34-year-old Chimera could have become an unrestricted free agent next summer.

Chimera has posted five goals and six assists in 16 games this season. For his career, he has totaled 126 goals and 153 assists in 726 games with Edmonton, Columbus and Washington.

The Capitals acquired Chimera from the Blue Jackets on Dec. 28, 2009.
