Nashville, TN (Sports Network) - The Tennessee Titans placed middle linebacker Colin McCarthy on injured reserve prior to Sunday's season finale against Jacksonville after he continued to experience symptoms from a concussion sustained last month.

McCarthy exited a Nov. 25 loss to the Jaguars with a head injury and has sat out the team's last four games as a result. The second-year pro also missed time earlier this season because of a sprained ankle.

The injuries limited the 2011 fourth-round pick to just seven contests this season, with McCarthy recording 38 tackles and one interception that he returned 49 yards for a touchdown against Miami in Week 10.

To fill the available roster spot, the Titans promoted fullback Collin Mooney to the active roster from the practice squad.
