Berea, OH (SportsNetwork.com) - New Cleveland Browns head coach Mike Pettine named eight coaches to his first staff on Monday, including former Buffalo Bills linebackers coach Jim O'Neil as defensive coordinator.

O'Neil and Pettine have worked together in each of the past five seasons, with the two serving as assistants under Rex Ryan with the New York Jets from 2009-12 before both joined the Bills last year. Pettine was the defensive coordinator in each of those stops, with O'Neil coaching defensive backs during his time with the Jets.

Additionally, O'Neil played for Pettine's father, Mike Sr., at Central Bucks High School West in Doylestown, Pa.

Pettine also retained Chris Tabor as special teams coordinator as well as Shawn Mennenga as assistant special teams coach. He also brought over two others from last year's Bills staff, linebackers coach Chuck Driesbach and assistant linebackers coach Brian Fleury.
