Englewood, CO (SportsNetwork.com) - The Denver Broncos have activated center J.D. Walton from the reserve/physically unable to perform list, the team announced Tuesday.

Walton, Denver's starting center since his rookie year of 2010, spent the first nine weeks of this season recovering from a second surgery on his left ankle back in June. The former third-round pick fractured and dislocated the same ankle in the fourth game of last season and missed the rest of the campaign as a result.

Manny Ramirez has been serving as the Broncos' regular center in Walton's place and is expected to remain in that role.

To create an opening for Walton, who resumed practicing on Oct. 16, Denver placed guard John Moffitt on the reserve/left squad list.

The Denver Post reported that Moffitt, a onetime starting guard in Seattle who was traded to the Broncos by the Seahawks late in the preseason, did not report back to the team on Monday following its bye week. The third-year pro has been inactive for six of Denver's eight games.
