Renton, WA (Sports Network) - The Seattle Seahawks placed wide receiver Percy Harvin on the physically unable to perform list.

Harvin underwent successful hip surgery on August 2.

Though his timetable to return remains uncertain, he will have to sit out at least the first six games of the regular season and will then have a three- week window to practice before the Seahawks decide whether to add him to the 53-man roster.

The Seahawks traded for Harvin in the offseason. He played just nine games last year because of a severely sprained ankle, finishing the campaign with 62 receptions for 677 yards and three scores while adding 96 yards and another touchdown on the ground. He also returned a kickoff for a touchdown and was leading the NFL in kick return average at 35.9 yards before his injury.

The 25-year-old Florida product has 280 career catches for 3,302 yards with 20 touchdowns and has also averaged 6.4 yards on 107 carries with four scores -- all with the Vikings. He's also returned five kickoffs for touchdowns in his four-year career.

Also added to the physically unable to perform list were defensive lineman Greg Scruggs and rookie cornerback Tharold Simon.

In addition, the Seahawks placed linebacker Korey Toomer on the reserve/non- football injury list, terminated the contract of cornerback Will Blackmon and released wide receiver Donavon Kemp.

The Seahawks have reached the league-mandated 75-man roster.
