Santa Clara, CA (SportsNetwork.com) - San Francisco 49ers running back Frank Gore broke his right ring finger during Sunday's NFC Championship Game against the Seattle Seahawks.

San Francisco coach Jim Harbaugh made the announcement during his season- ending media session with reporters. According to CSN Bay Area, the injury will require minor surgery.

Gore, the franchise's all-time leading rusher, was not on the field during the final plays of the 49ers' 23-17 loss in Seattle. He carried the ball 11 times for 14 yards and caught a 17-yard pass in the defeat. "I did not know about it until after the game," Harbaugh said.

Gore carried the ball 276 times for 1,128 yards and nine touchdowns this season. He also caught 16 passes for 141 yards.
