Santa Clara, CA (Sports Network) - The San Francisco 49ers have signed defensive tackle Justin Smith to a two-year contract extension through the 2015 season.

The four-time Pro Bowl selection has totaled 536 tackles and 32 sacks since joining the 49ers in 2008.

"Justin's All-Pro contributions on the field, as well as his leadership on and off the field, are integral to our success as a team," 49ers general manager Trent Baalke said in a statement Wednesday. "Justin consistently sets a standard of excellence, serving as an example for everyone within our organization. This contract allows Justin to finish his career as a 49er!"

The 33-year-old has registered 1,163 tackles, 75 1/2 sacks and three interceptions in 189 career games, all but four of which have been starts, with Cincinnati and San Francisco.

The Bengals selected the Missouri product with the fourth overall pick in the 2001 NFL Draft.
