New York, NY (SportsNetwork.com) - San Diego quarterback Philip Rivers was named the NFL's Comeback Player of the Year Saturday, as voted by the Associated Press.

Rivers engineered an improbable run for the Chargers into the playoffs, as they won their final four regular season games. He topped the NFL with a team- record 69.5 completion percentage and ended 378-of-544 through the air for 4,478 yards and 32 touchdowns against only 11 interceptions.

Rivers got 13 votes from a national media panel. Denver running back Knowshon Moreno and Philadelphia offensive tackle Jason Peters both received eight votes. They were followed by Tampa Bay cornerback Darrelle Revis with six votes. A total of eight other players got consideration for the award.
