Foxboro, MA (SportsNetwork.com) - The New England Patriots have reportedly re- signed defensive end Andre Carter.

Citing a source involved in the process, NFL.com is reporting the signing. The team has yet to announce the move.

Carter had 10 sacks in 14 games for the Patriots in 2011 before a lackluster 2012 campaign when the 34 year-old registered just 2 1/2 sacks in 12 games played. He has not played this season after his release from Oakland in August.

New England looks to add depth to a defense that has lost defensive lineman Vince Wilfork and linebacker Jerod Mayo.
